The Differences between Wet Gas Scrubbers and Dry Gas Scrubbers

In order to control the amount of air pollution that is released by industrial exhaust systems, companies must use devices called gas scrubbers. These devices essentially clean or purify the gas used in the exhaust system by removing the harmful particulate elements from it. Most scrubbers are able to remove harmful contaminants that are in solid form, mist form, or gas form, changing these into more consolidated forms that are easier to manage and dispose of. However, while the vast majority of gas scrubbers perform the same function, these devices come in different types and designs and, thus, carry out this function through different methods.

Very generally, Gas Cabinet scrubber systems primary function is to remove the harmful substances from exhaust gases before they are released into the environment. If these substances are not taken out of the exhaust process, they will eventually pollute the air, which then pollutes the rainwater, which then pollutes the groundwater and the soil itself. Gas scrubber devices can be found in a variety of different designs, but they will typically be either wet gas scrubber systems or dry gas scrubber systems. Though each of these has its positives and negatives, the effectiveness of either of these types of gas scrubbers will ultimately come down to what a given company needs.

While both wet and dry scrubber systems perform the same basic function, the ways in which each type of system are very different. Wet gas scrubber systems utilize either water or other chemically-based liquids, sometimes combinations of both, to remove the harmful contaminants from the gas used in industrial exhaust systems. At some point in the gas scrubber process, the liquid containing the harmful substances is collected at the bottom of the exhaust until it is removed. In contrast to wet gas scrubbers, dry gas scrubber systems for Reconditioned Gas Cabinets utilize dry reagents to remove the harmful contaminants from the exhaust system. While some dry scrubber reagents will react chemically and neutralize the contaminants, other dry scrubber reagents will react with these dangerous substances and change them into forms that can be collected by filters and then removed. The resulting substance yielded by dry gas scrubber devices is much easier to remove and dispose of compared to wet gas scrubbers, primarily because the liquid substances are more difficult to manage and transport. Still, great care must be taken when handling and disposing of the resulting waste substances of both wet and dry scrubbers.

Both wet and dry gas scrubber systems have contributed greatly to diminishing environmental pollution, thus protecting the health and safety of us all.
